New Orleans is a multi-cultured city with a long history and our cross stitch charts represent that culture and history. You will notice a large selection of charts related to food because in New Orleans we live to eat. When we're not eating (which is rare), we're talking about where to eat, what we've eaten lately and where we'll be eating next! New Orleans cross stitch charts are accessed on the Catalog page link on the sidebar; They are sub-divided into categories accessed by links on the Catalog page. To order, click on the photo and when the description comes up, simply click the top: “Add to cart” To checkout click the lower: “Checkout” Category Descriptions: Accessories (items that stitching can be put into or stitched onto. Charts shown sold separately.) Architecture (plantations and buildings found in the city and surrounding area) Cuisine (foods we love!) In case you aren’t aware, Mardi Gras Day is always on a Tuesday. It can fall between February 3 and March 9th. The official beginning of Mardi Gras season is January 6th, the Feast of Twelfth Night (feast of the Epiphany or Little Christmas in some cultures). It ends at midnight on Mardi Gras Day. Although Mardi Gras in New Orleans has an official season, natives are prone to say there are two seasons: Mardi Gras and pre-Mardi Gras, which begins the day after Mardi Gras. Future Mardi Gras dates: Feb. 24, 2009; February 16, 2010; March 8, 2011; February 21, 2012; February 12, 2013; March 4, 2014. Stitching Events: July 31-Aug. 2, 2009. Recent History: August 29, 2005 - the day New Orleans was devastated by Hurricane Katrina. Although it’s been over 3 1/2 years, it’s as if it was yesterday to local residents. This day forever changed the lives of everyone in metropolitan New Orleans. We continue to live through the ups and downs of reconstruction and seeming lack of forward momentum knowing that only if we persevere can we rebuild the city we love. Through all of this we struggle to keep our psyches firmly anchored on the positive. That is the Spirit of New Orleans. We welcome you to our city with open arms and hope that you are really hungry, because as we do so well, we will feed you until you burst. Don't forget to collect your lagniappe chart by clicking on the link at the top of this page. Laissez les bon temps rouler!
